Yahoo Finance press release: how syndication works and what it costs
How a press release ends up on finance.yahoo.com through wire syndication, what it costs, why the page ranks and gets cited by AI engines, and what the links do.
Yahoo Finance does not accept press releases from companies directly. The pages you see at finance.yahoo.com/news are syndicated from newswires: a release goes to the wire, the wire pushes it to its partner network, and Yahoo Finance is one of the partners that republishes it. That has three consequences for anyone buying the placement, and they are worth understanding before you order.
How the placement works
When you add Yahoo Finance to an order, your release is submitted to a wire whose feed Yahoo Finance republishes. The wire runs its own editorial check, publishes the release on its own site, and syndicates it. Within hours the release appears on finance.yahoo.com with the wire's press-release label, alongside copies on other partner sites such as Business Insider's markets section, Benzinga and Morningstar.
Because the same text appears on many domains, the Yahoo Finance copy is not unique content. Google still indexes it, and in practice it is the copy that ranks for brand searches most often, because of Yahoo's authority and crawl frequency.
Why the page ranks and gets cited
Yahoo Finance pages are crawled constantly and indexed within a day. In our own launches, a wire release with the brand in the headline has ranked in the top five for the brand term within five days via the Yahoo Finance copy. The pages are also among the sources AI answer engines cite most for company questions; see how press releases get brands cited by ChatGPT and AI Overviews.
What the links do
Link handling depends on the wire. Some pass dofollow links through to the syndicated copies; some do not. The directory shows the link type on each listing. Either way, keep anchors branded or plain URLs: Google's link-spam policy names press releases with keyword-optimized anchor text as a link scheme, and the wire's editors reject them anyway.
What it costs
A Yahoo Finance placement through a wire runs from roughly $250 to $300 per release on the market; our listing shows the current price. It is usually bundled with AP News and the finance mastheads, which is why our Growth bundle includes it. Single-outlet pricing is on the directory.
Which announcements work
- Launches and availability: the classic "[Company] announces [product]", which is the format finance readers and crawlers expect.
- Funding, partnerships and milestones for SaaS and startups.
- Crypto and Web3 announcements, which most mainstream wires decline but the finance wires accept; see crypto press release distribution.
Things to know before ordering
- Yahoo occasionally files a release under a different section than expected; the live URL is what you get, and it is always on finance.yahoo.com for wire releases.
- The word "review" is not accepted in headlines on the wires; use launch or label-disclosure framing instead.
- Images and word count are included in the price; there is no per-word fee.

Can I submit a press release directly to Yahoo Finance?
No. Yahoo Finance publishes releases it receives from newswires. A placement is bought through a wire that syndicates to finance.yahoo.com, which is what our Yahoo Finance listing is.
Will my release appear only on Yahoo Finance?
No. Wire syndication publishes the same release across the wire's network, often hundreds of sites, with Yahoo Finance as the most visible one.
How fast does the Yahoo Finance page index?
Usually within a day. Brand-term rankings typically follow within the first week.
